CASE NAMED PRESIDENT OF ELECTROLUX HOME CARE PRODUCTS NORTH AMERICA

Former La-Z-Boy Executive To Lead Floor Care Business

(Bloomington, Illinois) October 7, 2004 – A.B. Electrolux of Sweden today named John J. Case as President and CEO for the company’s North American Floor Care Sector, which includes Electrolux Home Care Products (Eureka and Electrolux), Beam Industries and Electrolux Home Care Products Canada. He replaces Martin Holleran, former senior GE executive, who has served as interim President and CEO since January

In making the announcement Magnus Yngen, Executive Vice President of AB Electrolux and Head of Floor Care Products and Small Appliances said, “John is a pragmatic visionary with an impressive track record for managing and driving change in an evolving environment. He is a hands-on leader who no doubt will have a tremendous impact on our North American Floor Care business. We look forward to his contributions and are confident his leadership will help us achieve our goals.”

Case brings extensive experience in consumer products management including sales, marketing, manufacturing, retailing, and invigorating business to this position. Most recently, he served as President of La-Z-Boy Branded Product, the largest division of La-Z-Boy Incorporated. During his more than 25 years with the furniture manufacturer, Case held a variety of sales and marketing management positions, including national accounts sales manager, director of marketing, vice president of advertising and sales communications, vice president of retail development, and vice president of marketing.

Case was appointed President of the La-Z-Boy Residential Division in 1999 and, in 2001, took on responsibility for overseeing all upholstery divisions within La-Z-Boy Incorporated, including Bauhaus, Centurion, Clayton Marcus, England, HickoryMark, La-Z-Boy Residential and Sam Moore.

During his tenure with La-Z-Boy, the brand grew to become the most recognized name in home furnishings and among the top three home brands overall according to the annual brand study by HFN magazine. Case also was named to Advertising Age magazine’s “Top 100 Marketers” list.

“In this age of commoditization, product innovation based on consumer insights and branding can create a distinct competitive advantage,” said Case. “With several great products in development, and several distinct brands, I am very optimistic about our future and I’m thrilled to be part of the Electrolux team.”

A graduate of Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in telecommunications, Case also attended Eastern Michigan University’s Graduate School of Education, where he earned a teaching certificate. Additionally, he completed the Advanced Management Program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
